UEC Theatres to Install Digital 3D Technology at 5  locations

Press Release:  UEC Theatres to Install Digital 3D Technology at 5 Locations

January 20, 2009

United Entertainment Corp. (UEC) has announced that moviegoers will soon be able to experience digital 3D movies at 5 UEC locations.  This technology will be ready for the highly anticipated February 27th opening of Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.

Digital 3D uses a digital cinema projector to switch images and color schemes between the right and left eye.  Thus creating a 3D image that is superior to the traditional 35mm 3D version.  The XpanD 3D system uses stereoscopic active technology, a highly sophisticated infrared 3D delivery system, which is the base product of many developing 3D platforms.

The power of this new entertainment can be seen in the incredible success of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert and films such as Bolt and Journey to the Center of the Earth.  As a result of this success, studios are increasing the number of 3D features. Upcoming titles include Jonas Brothers, Monsters vs. Aliens, Toy Story 3 and James Cameron’s Avatar.

Ballantyne of Omaha, Inc., Barco of Rancho Cordova, CA and XpanD of Pasadena, Calif. will provide equipment and glasses and Global Digital Creation (GDC) will provide the digital cinema servers for the new 3D systems.

The new Digital 3D technology systems will be implemented at the following UEC locations:

Pennsylvania

College 9, State College

Premiere Theatre 12, State College

Tennessee

Premiere Theatre 12, Cleveland

North Carolina

Premiere Theatre 12, Goldsboro

Premiere Theatre 14, Rocky Mount
